Ingredients — Tilapia Picatta

  • 4 tilapia fillets

  • 1 cup chicken stock

  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • 2 tsp lemon zest

  • ¼ cup flour

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 clove garlic

  • ¼ cup white wine

  • 2 tbsp capers

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

  • ¼ cup fresh parsley

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

How to Make Tilapia Picatta

Prepare the Sauce Mixture

In a bowl, whisk together the chicken stock, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, and flour until well combined.

Season and Coat the Tilapia

Season the tilapia fillets with salt and black pepper. Lightly dredge each fillet in flour, making sure it is evenly coated.

Sear the Tilapia

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tilapia fillets and sear until golden on both sides. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Lemon Caper Sauce

Add the garlic to the skillet and sauté briefly. Pour in the white wine and allow it to cook for a moment. Add the chicken stock mixture and capers, then simmer until the sauce thickens.

Finish the Sauce

Stir in the unsalted butter until melted and incorporated into the sauce.

Return the Tilapia

Place the seared tilapia back into the skillet. Spoon the lemon, white wine, and caper sauce over the fish and allow it to warm through.

Garnish and Serve

Garnish the Tilapia Picatta with fresh parsley and serve immediately with the sauce spooned generously over the fish.
